ZKW begins construction of its third stage in Guanajuato Puerto Interior

As the purpose of combining engineering, development, high-end operation, corporate organization, alliances in human resources, project management and quality , ZKW began the construction of the third phase of its plant located in Guanajuato . Inner Port .

The company will expand its land with 15,700 square meters and with an investment of 102 million dollars. They are expected to generate around 830 jobs.

The company, which is an Austrian-Korean investment , is engaged in the manufacture of headlights for premium automobiles ; and in this third stage it will produce headlights and center bar lights for electric vehicles and SUVs from BMW , Ford and General Motors.

Wolgang Muhri, COO of ZKW Group, announced that since the plant began to operate, the research and development areas, as well as the production area for headlights, fog lamps and auxiliary lamps, have been installed.

From 2015 to 2018, they were growing continuously and on November 13, 2019, the first stone of the second phase was laid, creating an industrial warehouse of 19,000 square meters, in order to comply with specific projects for premium cars. For this third phase , compliance with production will continue, due to the growth registered in recent months.

Jan Seumenich, vice president of ZKW Mexico, mentioned that they previously carried out a study and analysis of the clients they have in the region and which ones they could be attracting in the future, so they also approached students and future collaborators of the company, making them see that the technology generated in Europe is within their reach in Guanajuato.

“In a meeting with engineering students, I told them that the technology that is presumed in Europe is here in Guanajuato, that they could be collaborating with us to generate more technology and that it could be the same or more innovative than what we see in other countries like the United States or Japan. We have it here in Silao and it is here in ZKW”, he commented.

He said that the automotive industry is complicated, especially for those companies that integrate the premium sector such as ZKW Mexico , since the level of demand rises and that is why they require specialized labor that is in constant training and growth.

Of the total of its collaborators, 15% are engineers and 25% are administrative . The production work carried out in the plant is of high technology, even higher than that of other plants installed in the world.

Mauricio Usabiaga, Secretary of Sustainable Economic Development , stated that the expansion of is a sign of trust in Guanajuato and its workforce to be able to show solidarity and strengthen the automotive industry.
