Zebra Technologies inaugurated a supplies manufacturing plant in Querétaro to expand its capacity to deliver asset visibility and automation solutions across Mexico and Latin America. The facility will enable local production of certified consumables used in identification, data capture, and industrial printing systems—helping companies across multiple sectors access these technologies with improved availability and shorter lead times.

During the presentation, Ernesto Hernández, Vice President and General Manager of Zebra Technologies México, said the new plant represents a strategic step to further consolidate the company’s regional footprint. He explained that the facility will support a more efficient integration of Zebra’s solutions portfolio, which includes thermal printers, data capture devices, software, and specialized supplies used in industrial and logistics operations.

Local production to strengthen supply chains

The Querétaro plant will begin operations producing labels and thermal transfer ribbons, essential consumables for industrial identification systems. These products are part of Zebra’s certified supplies portfolio, which also includes hospital wristbands, barcode labels, and receipts—designed to work alongside Zebra hardware to ensure accurate data capture.

According to the company, the facility covers approximately 5,500 square meters and launched with an investment of more than US$5 million. In its first stage, the plant will generate around 60 jobs, with the expectation of reaching up to 80 positions by the end of 2026 as production capacity increases and additional products are incorporated into the local portfolio.

Zebra noted that the decision to locate the plant in Querétaro reflects the region’s industrial momentum and its role as a key logistics corridor in Mexico, enabling faster service for customers and commercial partners. Prior to this investment, Zebra primarily supplied the Mexican market from plants in the United States, which required additional logistics and regulatory processes.

Quality standards, sustainability, and community engagement

In addition to expanding industrial capacity, Zebra stated that the facility will operate under global quality and sustainability standards, with certifications such as ISO 9001, ISO 14001, and ISO 45001 currently in process. The company also plans to develop volunteer and community support programs in Querétaro focused on technical education and social engagement as part of its corporate responsibility strategy in the regions where it operates.
