Aguascalientes continues to reaffirm its industrial leadership with the expansion of Yokohama Industries Americas Inc., which will invest more than MXN 464 million to enlarge its facility located in San Francisco IV Industrial Park, in the municipality of San Francisco de los Romo.
The project includes the construction of a modern warehouse and new production lines, generating 128 new jobs for local talent and strengthening both the automotive supply chain and the regional economy.
A Decade of Steady Growth
The Japanese company chose Aguascalientes as its first production base in Mexico in 2014. A decade later, the expansion of its operations reaffirms international companies’ confidence in the state’s economic environment, characterized by stability, modern infrastructure, and a highly skilled workforce.
Yokohama’s growth adds momentum to the state’s industrial dynamism, which has maintained a consistent flow of foreign direct investment in recent years, particularly in the automotive, metalworking, and advanced manufacturing sectors.
Japanese Confidence in Aguascalientes
Currently, more than 120 Japanese companies operate in Aguascalientes, consolidating an economic partnership that has promoted innovation, technology transfer, and specialized workforce training. This presence has strengthened ties between Japan and Mexico, fostering a competitive and quality-driven industrial ecosystem.
The event was attended by Takero Aoyama, Consul General of Japan in León; Takayuki Hamaya, President of The Yokohama Rubber Co., Ltd.; Brian Franklin, Vice President of Business Development; and Humberto Bernal, Plant Manager.
Local authorities highlighted the continued strategic relationship with Japan and the key role of Japanese companies in regional development.
The Yokohama expansion represents more than just an investment — it reflects a solid and long-term relationship between Aguascalientes and Japan, built on mutual trust and a shared commitment to industrial excellence.
Through high-value projects like this, Aguascalientes maintains its status as a national benchmark for advanced manufacturing and international competitiveness, reinforcing its reputation as a preferred destination for foreign investment.
