With an investment of 52 million pesos, was announced the expansion of Piedras Negras customs

With an investment of 52 million pesos, in coordination with the three
government orders (Federal, State, and Municipal) was announced that Piedras
Negras customs will be expanded, it was announced that it means providing
quality to the northern border of Coahuila, in benefit of the local economy and
foreign trade.
In the work session held by Ricardo Ahued Bardahuil, general manager of
Customs, with Miguel Riquelme, governor of Coahuila; Claudio Bres Garza, mayor
of Piedras Negras; and Gerardo Berlanga, head of the Ministry of Infrastructure
in Coahuila, explained that technical details of the project were even
addressed.
“The benefits for Piedras Negras will be an increase in foreign trade operation,
quicker and agile border crossing with Eagle Pass (Texas,) reduction of peak
hours waiting, facilitation of goods and services exchanged, and investment
attraction,” said Riquelme Solis.
For all involved with foreign trade, this work will mean that they will
have exclusive lanes, agility in customs dispatch, simplification, and
administrative facilities, prioritization in contingencies in customs dispatch
and reduction of controls for certified companies. Al this will make Piedras
Negras customs crossing more competitive regarding others in the country,”
emphasized the state official.
Meanwhile, the mayor of Piedras Negras explained that Ahued Baradhuil committed to that the Federal Government will contribute with 25 million pesos for the project, therefore the State and Municipality will give the remaining 27 million under the supervision of the Tax Administration Service (SAT, by its Spanish initials.) “The news is that for four years this was awaited in Piedras Negras, now is being materialized,” said Bres Garza.
IN THE TOP 10 OF BORDERS
By considering the number of import and commercial export crossings, as
well as the value of the goods and tax collection, Piedras Negras customs
occupy the 10 positions nationwide.
Among the main goods operations held in the Piedras Negras border, standout auto-parts, hydrocarbons, steel, as well as supplies.
Piedras Negras recently exceeded Nuevo Laredo, Tamaulipas, in the border
railroad movement in Mexico, mostly due to the activity of important industries
like Constellation Brands, brewery daily exporting 500 rail boxcars and about
160 cargo trucks with their products.
