With an investment of 147 million dollars, Forvia inaugurates an auto parts plant in Nuevo León

With an investment of 147 million dollars in a first stage, Faurecia , a French company of Grupo FORVIA , opened a new state-of-the-art manufacturing plant in the municipality of Apodaca, Nuevo León, which will generate 1,500 new jobs in the entity. .

With this plant, located in the  Nexxus Industrial Park and which has more than 33,500 square meters , the French auto parts giant increases its operating capacity in America; car seat structures, instrument panels and center consoles will be manufactured here, aligned with industry trends in sustainability and the use of lightweight materials.

Frank Huber, executive vice president of Faurecia in the car seats division , assured that this opening represents a "true milestone" for his business branch, because although they are currently number one worldwide in structural seat systems, with 16 % of the global market, seek to improve their numbers.

As part of its strategic plan, dated 2025, he explained, "this new plant will serve as a platform for such growth. Monterrey is in the perfect location for this. It is a city with a long and proud industrial culture, with an excellent infrastructure”.

“We have alliances with institutions such as the University of Monterrey, the Inter-American University for Development, the Monterrey Institute of Higher Education, the Nuevo León Institute of Technology, among others, to offer internship and training programs; this will give FORVIA a pipeline of talented professionals to deliver on our ambition and fuel our collective growth,” he added.

 

Forvia production in Nuevo León

In an exclusive interview with Mexico Industry , Frank Huber specified that they will have installed production capacity for two million cars per year in the seating area and more than 700,000 products in the interior part. Its main customers will be the biggest North American brands, as well as Stellantis and Volvo .

For his part, Jean Paul Michel, executive vice president in the interior division, gave some details about the plant that is located in the municipality of Apodaca.

“Monterrey represents an important investment for FORVIA. The facilities cover a total of more than 30,000 square meters, including more than 20,000 square meters of production area. In this plant we have more than 1,000 tons of steel, 13,300 cubic meters of concrete and 20 kilometers of cable for voice and data ”, he detailed.

Likewise, he highlighted his commitment to the sustainable development of FORVIA in each of its plants.

“At FORVIA we look at everything through the lens of sustainability, which is why the Monterrey site is one more example of how we are designing our plants to support our carbon neutrality goals. Our investment supports key sustainability initiatives in the fields of bioclimatic design, energy efficiency and water recovery. For this reason, we are pleased to share with you that this new plant is certified as a green building, which helps us show off our commitment to sustainable operation.

The inauguration ceremony was attended by the state governor, Samuel García Sepúlveda, who led the ribbon cutting of the new plant, in the company of Iván Rivas Rodríguez, Secretary of Economy of Nuevo León; Emmanuel Loo, Undersecretary of Investment of Nuevo León; César Garza Villarreal, municipal president of Apodaca, and Jean-Pierre Asvazadourian, French ambassador in Mexico.
