Walmart de México y Centroamérica will invest 1,800 million dollars in Nuevo León

At the Walmart de México y Centroamérica Monterrey Distribution Center , located in the Multiparque Industrial Park, in the municipality of Ciénega de Flores, Nuevo León, managers, workers, state and municipal authorities met to learn about the 2023 Investment Plan, in the framework of the celebration of the 20th anniversary of Cedis Monterrey.

Guilherme Loureiro, executive president and general director of Walmart de México y Centroamérica, announced the investment plan for 2023, which amounts to more than 1,800 million pesos for the state of Nuevo León, where 22 units of its formats will be opened Bodega Aurrerá, Sam's Club and Walmart Supercenter; With this, more than 1,000 direct and 240 indirect jobs will be created in the entity.

"It is a pleasure to be with you sharing such a special date, for Walmart de México y Centroamérica, in this wonderful space, which today celebrates its 20th anniversary. With almost 3,000 stores throughout the country, today we are an omnichannel solutions company, led by people empowered by technology, dedicated to helping people save money and live better.

"We are very proud of what we have achieved so far, and we are excited about the growth potential that lies ahead. Two days ago, at an annual meeting with investors, we announced that 2022 was a good year for us, we achieved sales above 819,000 million pesos, which implied a growth of more than 11% in our business in the previous year.

"This great result is thanks to the efforts of more than 230,000 associates, who daily give us my most sincere appreciation with their effort, talent, and dedication.

“I share with you that, in the case of Mexico, more than five million customers make their purchases in our stores and clubs daily, in more than 60 cities throughout the country. Our closeness to customers and partners is a key differentiator. Today, in the company of all of you, I am pleased to announce that in 2023 we will continue to grow in Mexico and of course in this great state.

"In 2023 we will invest close to 1,800 million pesos in Nuevo León, the investment will focus on serving our infrastructure in the state and on the opening of 22 stores in our formats: Bodega Aurrerá, Sam's Club and Walmart Supercenter, where more than 1,000 direct jobs and 240 indirect jobs ”.

He highlighted that with the opening of these units, Nuevo León is consolidated as the second state with the most company stores, where daily they serve more than 500,000 customers and partners.

He stressed that the company's commitment goes beyond supporting the communities where they operate. In 2023, they awarded 1,495 tons of food to vulnerable people through the Food Bank, together with Cáritas, for which he presented Enrique Gómez Junco with recognition and congratulations.

For his part, Samuel García Sepúlveda, governor of Nuevo León, stressed that last year the entity had a record in job creation, collection and foreign investment, so the economic outlook for Nuevo León is encouraging.

"We are trying to get the government to match the economic dynamics that today in the world and nearshoring are bringing to Nuevo León, along with Walmart, with Tesla, and other large investments will come from service providers and companies," the president said.

On the other hand, he invited them to consider crossing through the Colombia Bridge , which will have a customs office, and promised them that they would have an exclusive lane for their exports.
