Toyota Motor de México announced a new capital injection of 238 million dollars, which will be used to adapt the production processes at the Guanajuato plant .
The objective of the Japanese brand is to improve its manufacturing stages of the New Generation of the Tacoma pickup for the North American market. This new version will be Hybrid Electric , which means that Toyota Motor Manufacturing Guanajuato will be part of the company's manufacturing electrification strategy .
It should be noted that the Japanese company has so far saved more than 700,000 tons of CO2 in the country, after selling more than 110,000 hybrid electric vehicles, thus becoming the automotive company that has reduced carbon emissions the most in Mexico. This is the second largest allocation of resources invested by Toyota in Guanajuato, after the initial investment of 700 million dollars.
Additionally, in 2022 it received an additional 170 million dollars to increase production capacity , which closed last year with more than 125,000 Tacoma units. In this way, since its announcement in 2016, Toyota Motor Manufacturing Guanajuato (TMMGT) has received an investment close to 1.2 billion dollars.
This announcement was made during the tour made by Luis Lozano, president of TMMGT, and the state governor, Diego Sinhue Rodríguez Vallejo, at the Motomachi Plant in Japan.
"This is how Toyota reaffirms its commitment to Mexico after more than 20 years of operations in the country, not only with constant investment, but also through the generation of quality jobs and improvement of automotive technology, with a clear focus on the positive impact on the environment and carbon neutrality, both in the vehicles we produce and in our plants, dealer network and our entire supply chain," said Luis Lozano.
On the other hand, Toyota expressed its pride in having talent from Guanajuato that since 2019, the year in which Toyota Motor Manufacturing Guanajuato began operations, has demonstrated its commitment to quality production. In fact, this manufacturing plant generates more than 2,500 direct jobs, of which 80% of the associates are proud of the entity.
TMMGT was designed and built with elements that incorporate innovations in production engineering. In addition, it efficiently combines human work with the highest technology, resulting in better processes and, therefore, better vehicles.
With this investment announcement, Toyota reaffirms its commitment to continue contributing to the economic and social development of Mexico, but also to promote technological advances that promote more sustainable and environmentally friendly mobility, as represented by the New Electric Hybrid Tacoma .
