The Greater Brownsville Incentives Corporation hosts a Christmas celebration

To highlight the business achievements of 2023 in Brownsville, Texas, and promote collaboration among organizations, authorities, universities, and other sectors focused on economic development, the Greater Brownsville Incentives Corporation (GBIC) team held its 2023 Christmas celebration, during which they presented a dozen awards.

Bret Gardella, President and CEO of GBIC, emphasized the positive growth in recent months and the impact that new road, maritime, and air infrastructure projects will have in consolidating the region as an attractive route for investments and nearshoring.

The awards presented were:

Innovation Award: Brownsville Public Utilities Board. Expansion Award: Rich Products Corporation. "We Are Our Own 2.0" Award: Bechtel Corporation. Associate Awards: Brownsville Independent School District (BISD) for technical and professional education programs and continuing education for adults. "Above & Beyond" Awards: Jenica Russel and Danny Marez. Small Business Award: Terras Urban Mexican Kitchen. Legacy Award: Pat Hobbs.

Project Development

The GBIC team delivered messages of gratitude. Eleazar Rodríguez, Director of Project and Industrial Park Development, Elsa Galván, Operations Manager, Karla de la Riva, Director of Business and Workforce Development, Jerry Briones, Deputy Executive Director, Marlene Murillo, Administrative Assistant, and Jovanna Rangel, Director of Business Retention and Expansion at GBIC, expressed their thanks and also presented recognitions to Brownsville's productive sector.

Attendees at the GBIC Christmas celebration included directors of economic development, representatives from the Mexican consulate in Brownsville, the University of Texas Rio Grande Valley, Cameron County, Brownsville Chamber of Commerce, Port of Brownsville, industrial professionals, and those from the logistics and manufacturing sectors.
