The Aerospace Cluster of Bajío has been a successful model in promoting and growing the industry in Guanajuato, where there is a robust aerospace ecosystem focused on advanced manufacturing, simulation, and aeronautical design, as well as the production of drones and high-precision components.

The challenges faced by the aerospace industry in Mexico due to the new U.S. trade policy—given that more than 80% of Mexican exports are destined for the United States—highlight the need to propose and develop innovative strategies to maintain the growth of the aerospace sector. This is explained by Oscar Rodríguez Yáñez, president of the Aerospace Cluster of Bajío.

Strategies of the Aerospace Cluster of Bajío
In light of this scenario, the Aerospace Cluster of Bajío has strengthened its strategies to enhance the competitiveness of the aerospace industry in Guanajuato. As a leading provider of cutting-edge technologies and services, the cluster offers scalable solutions for businesses of all sizes, with a focus on talent development, integration into the supply chain, and the promotion of industrial capabilities.

With the presence of Mexico’s only OEM (Original Equipment Manufacturer) that produces aircraft with composite materials, Guanajuato positions itself as a key player in the national and international aerospace industry. Furthermore, the companies in the cluster have adopted a technological innovation approach, strengthening their competitiveness in the global market.

Innovation and Technology: Pillars of the Cluster’s Future
Innovation and technology play a crucial role in the cluster's vision for the future. According to Rodríguez Yáñez, the sector is distinguished by its technological focus and aims to maintain this direction to consolidate its presence in the global aerospace industry.

"Within the cluster, we are not just passionate people about what we do, but we also generate incredible synergy among our members, academia, and government. We are friends. This relationship allows us to create high-impact projects, especially in talent development," he explains.

The cluster maintains agreements with various universities, which have enabled their graduates to join companies in the sector, gaining specialized work experience in such a demanding field as aerospace. In addition, the government of Guanajuato strongly supports the development of young professionals by offering scholarships and employment insertion programs in the sector, thus strengthening the regional aerospace ecosystem.

This strategy creates a "win-to-win" scenario, where both the industry and the new generations of engineers, managers, and developers mutually benefit, further strengthening the aerospace ecosystem in Bajío, the president emphasized.

Thanks to its strategy of innovation, talent development, and integration into the supply chain, as well as coordination with its associated companies—such as ATG Additive Manufacturing, CEI Aerospace, Grupo SSC, Horizontec, Novatec Group, Optimen, and Temaplax—the Aerospace Cluster of Bajío contributes to the strengthening of the aerospace industry in the region.
