"After the progress of the upcoming Tesla plant in the state, construction of the Gigafactory will commence in the first quarter of 2024, as announced by the governor of Nuevo León, Samuel García.

The state governor affirmed that the groundwork for the projects assigned to the State Government began in December, and the results will be visible during this month of January.

"The State's activities started in December, and it will be noticeable in January. Internally, within the factory premises, the construction should kick off this quarter," stated García after leading an official event in Monterrey.

Infrastructure Advances

In early January, the State Government reported progress in the infrastructure works for the construction of Tesla in Santa Catarina, Nuevo León. Work crews carried out essential tasks for site preparation, including ground leveling, marking of areas, topographical surveys, and general cleaning in the area where Tesla's Gigafactory will be erected.

These workers precisely determined control points, layout for structures, as well as the section designated for access ramps and the expansion of the third lane on the Monterrey – Saltillo highway.

No Set Date

Elon Musk, Tesla's owner, mentioned in an interview for a YouTube channel that they have not yet set a date for building the Gigafactory in Nuevo León. Musk specified that the new Cybertruck will be manufactured in the state but reiterated that the car production in this municipality will take time. However, he specified that the first production line for this model will be established in Texas and then in Mexico."
