August 14, 2025
With an investment of USD 23 million, global automotive components leader Tenneco announced the expansion of its plant in Aguascalientes, strengthening the state’s position as one of Mexico’s top destinations for investment and innovation.
Governor Tere Jiménez emphasized that “thanks to the strength of our workforce, security, and legal certainty, companies like Tenneco choose to expand their operations and continue consolidating their leadership in the sector.”
This new project, known as “Bowling,” will increase the plant’s share of global valve production from 34% to an estimated 42–44%, reaching a capacity of nearly 85 million valves annually. The expansion responds to rising demand from strategic clients such as Nissan Motor Corporation and Briggs & Stratton, and will create 150 new jobs, incorporate advanced technology, and foster stronger links with local suppliers.
“The arrival of investments of this scale not only increases our production capacity but also drives technology transfer, the development of local talent, and Aguascalientes’ visibility on the global map as a strategic hub for the automotive industry,” said Esaú Vega, Secretary of Economic Development, Science, and Technology.
Strengthening Competitiveness and Regional Growth
The expansion reaffirms Tenneco’s commitment to Aguascalientes’ industrial competitiveness, enhancing value chains in combustion technologies as well as hybrid and electric solutions.
“I thank Tenneco’s global and local leadership for trusting our state, as well as the entire team at the Secretariat working to ensure more companies view Aguascalientes as the best place to grow and prosper,” Vega added.
With this expansion, Aguascalientes continues writing new industrial success stories, consolidating its role as Mexico’s productive heart and a strategic hub for global automotive innovation.
