June 4, 2018
The American company Techmer de Mexico opened its productive plant located in the fourth phase of the Queretaro Industrial Park, which specializes in the manufacturing of composed polymers and additives for the automotive, industry, fibers, and packaging industries among others.
With the investment of about 10 million dollars, the company started operations in a first stage, generating 25 direct jobs, expecting to increase this number to 50 in the next two years when the plant of 6,000 m2 is at its full capacity.
“I am very excited of having these facilities outside the United States and you know that today we are amazed of being present in 44 countries around the world,” said John Manuck, Chairman and CEO of Techmer Polymer Modifiers, during the opening ceremony, who remembered its beginnings in the 80’s.
Meanwhile, Ryan Howley thanked the attendees, associates, customers and special guests for making possible the installation of the new plant in Mexico. He said that after touring different locations in the world they decided that Queretaro will be the most suitable location for their new plant, due to the safety of its industrial parks.
“The most important thing is the members of this great team gathered here. I am very excited for the startup of operations, for being here in Mexico and be a supplier in Mexico, of Central and South America,” said the directive.
Guillermo Quijano Fals, general manager for Latin America of Techmer PM said in interview that only a year ago they decided that the company will be investing in Mexico, especially in Queretaro. Their construction lasted twelve months.
The company is a subsidiary of Techmer PM with its headquarters in California, United States, which is producing for a month now, but increasingly new production lines will be launched. The plant’s capability will be of approximately 3,000 tons of modified polymers per year.
The manager said that this plant will be dedicated to serving current customers from different sectors in Mexico, which manufacture from greenhouse films, packaging, color development and engineering compounds; however, within the short term projection – 5 years – there is observed to address the same amount of investment to build a mirror plant in the same property land of 11,000 m2 where the first plant was built.
He emphasized in that the company will be manufacturing with high technology and that customers in Mexico are looking to have higher performance and less wastes, in addition that they are demanding more innovation products.
“What Techmer manufactures are polymers modified with carbon fiber or glass fiber for 3D printing manufacturers can use our polymers in such processes,” said Guillermo Quijano, who mentioned that they are also working with the aerospace company Boeing in the United States, to manufacture molded parts for their airplane wings.
However, he said that the most important market for the company is the agricultural sector with 30 % of participation, followed by the flexible and rigid packaging, as well as synthetic fibers and non-woven for applications such as baby diapers, hospital robes, etc.
The event was
attended by high directives of the company such as Ryan Howley, president of Techmer
PM; John Manuck, Chairman & CEO of Techmer PM; Craig Burnett, vice-president
of operations at Techmer PM; Bryan West, member of the Executive Committee of Techmer
PM, among others.
