Tamaulipas to Expand Nuevo Laredo III International Bridge to 18 Lanes for Cargo Traffic

The state of Tamaulipas is moving forward with a major border infrastructure project aimed at strengthening its role in North American trade. Authorities have announced the expansion of the Puente Internacional Nuevo Laredo III, one of the most important commercial crossings between Mexico and the United States, as part of a broader strategy to support sustainable economic growth and international commerce.
Increased Cargo Capacity at a Strategic Trade Corridor
The project includes widening the existing bridge structure from eight to ten lanes and constructing a new parallel structure with eight additional lanes. Once completed, the crossing will feature a total of 18 lanes dedicated exclusively to cargo traffic, significantly increasing operational capacity at Mexico’s leading land port of entry for freight.
This corridor handles close to half of the country’s cross-border cargo truck traffic, positioning the World Trade Bridge in Nuevo Laredo as a critical logistics node for regional and international supply chains.
