Sumitomo Drive Technologies began construction of its new factory, which will be located in the municipality of Juárez, Nuevo León.

“The beginning of the construction of this plant marks the realization of a dream that many of us have had for years: we dream of having a facility where we could manufacture, assemble, distribute our products. Now, we are one step closer to fulfilling that dream, ”said Jim Solomon, president of Sumitomo Corporation of America.

Sumitomo Drive Technologies has grown in Mexico for around 20 years. The president of the company pointed out that they have had several establishments in the state due to the increase in capacities that they have generated. “At the beginning, we were in a small plant in the center, we moved to various facilities; but we don't want to move anymore. This will be our new home, in Juárez, ”he said.

The size of the land where they will settle is 39,250 square meters; Its plant will measure 14,937 square meters, and will have seven loading docks . "We have a permanent home for potential expansion as our business grows," added Salomon.

He also expressed his desire to continue contributing to the development of Juárez, a municipality with around half a million inhabitants.

Pocket Park Oriente has been in operation for about a year, and Sumitomo Drive Technologies is the third company to establish itself in the industrial park, said José María Garza Treviño, president of GP Desarrollos and GP Construcción.

Garza thanked everyone involved: his team, the company, and the government; and expressed its desire to continue offering important competitive advantages to companies that wish to establish themselves in the park.

IED IN NUEVO LEÓN

“Nuevo Léon has been a leader in attracting Foreign Direct Investment (FDI) for many years. In 2020, almost half of the foreign investment projects in the state were expansions; which shows that companies find here what they need to grow ”, said Lorenzo Aguilar Camelo, Undersecretary of Investment and Industrial Development.

In that sense, the undersecretary reported that 73% of the investment comes from manufacturing industries. In total, around 4,000 foreign companies operate in the entity; Furthermore, "our state is the leader in Mexico in the export of manufactured products."
