In Roma, Texas, a customs inspection station for refrigerated goods was inaugurated, operated by customs agents from both Mexico and the United States through the "Joint Customs Inspection" program of the U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP) and the National Customs Agency of Mexico (ANAM).

The secondary customs inspection station, affiliated with the Port of Roma, Texas, features 12 refrigerated and 10 dry modules within a 30,000 square foot area, including a large maneuvering yard capable of handling up to 500 trucks per day.

The goal of these new facilities is to streamline binational trade and inspection processes. At a single point, Mexican and U.S. customs agents can review permits and transported goods.

Andrés Guerra, CBP director at the Port of Roma, emphasized the significance of this facility, stating, "This second module will facilitate all the commercial exchange processes we were handling at the port. The inspection of refrigerated goods is done very quickly; one of the biggest challenges we had with the first module was truck parking, and now we have enough space to accommodate them."

The secondary station at CBP Port of Roma is the first completed project within the Las Américas-Roma Industrial and Logistics Park, strategically located between Roma, Texas, and Miguel Alemán, Tamaulipas.

Alejandro Barrera, city administrator of Roma, highlighted the importance of this region for trade between Mexico and the United States. "We invite all transporters from Tamaulipas, Coahuila, and Nuevo León to use the Port of Roma for their commercial processes. Here, you won't find long lines, and we are strategically located to facilitate your mobility in the United States."

Business leaders, authorities, and representatives from organizations on both sides of the border attended the inauguration event and participated in a tour explaining the operation of the joint customs program.
