The inauguration of the Tastiota Solar Park marks a significant milestone in Sonora's renewable energy journey, with an investment of $137.5 million. Led by Recurrent Energy (CAN), KEPCO (KR), and Sprott (KR), the project covers 400 hectares and boasts a generating capacity of 100 MW/AC, powered by 298,500 solar panels.
Recurrent Energy spearheaded the development and launch of the plant, contributing to Mexico's energy transition by reducing greenhouse gas emissions by over 170,000 tons of CO₂ equivalent annually.
Governor Alfonso Durazo Montaño emphasized Sonora's commitment to sustainability, aiming to position the state as a leading provider of clean energy nationwide. "Sonora's ambition is to become the top national supplier of clean energy, offering a competitive advantage to attract companies in electromobility, automation, and semiconductor manufacturing," highlighted Governor Durazo.
Sonora's International Outreach
Governor Durazo Montaño's upcoming visit to the People's Republic of China from March 4th to 10th will further Sonora's international engagement in clean energy.
During his visit, the governor will engage in negotiations for a solar panel manufacturing plant to be established in Sonora. Additionally, meetings with companies specializing in electromobility, solar energy, automation, and automotive industries will pave the way for strategic partnerships and investments in Sonora's sustainable future.
