Siemens invests 955 million pesos in Nuevo León to build the Mitras Project

Siemens will transfer its plastic injection factory from Ciudad Juárez, Chihuahua, to Nuevo León. With an investment of 955 million pesos , the “ Mitras Project ” began: the construction of the new plant in the municipality of Santa Catarina. 

The German company will create 450 new jobs ; In addition, it installed a distributed generation system that works through a photovoltaic park with the capacity to generate 813,804 kWh per year for its operation. Company executives reported that the facilities of the plastic injection plant will have an area of ​​19,249 square meters. 

This expansion will help increase production to 874,000 pieces of plastic per day, which will also increase exports to the United States and Canada. The new plant will have the LEE Gold certification , which guarantees the company's efficient and sustainable processes. 

Currently, the Santa Catarina factory employs 2,200 people and focuses on the assembly of low voltage items. 

During the first placement of the stone of the Mitras Project , managers such as Alejandro Preinfalk, president and CEO of Siemens Mexico, Central America and the Caribbean were present ; Iván Rivas, head of the Ministry of Economy ; Federico Rojas, Secretary of Labor; and Emmanuel Loo, Undersecretary for Investment.

Samuel García, governor of Nuevo León, highlighted that exports grew 23% from January to April of this year. “Today we are 15% further from second place in exports. It is a privilege and it is a pride that they invite us to continue laying first stones, to continue announcing that millions of dollars, millions of pesos, are coming”. 

He added that international companies choose Nuevo León as one of the best options to settle, due to its geographical position with the United States and its human capital.
