In March 2025, San Luis Potosí topped Mexico’s manufacturing growth with an 18.4% increase, highlighting the state’s strategic role in the country’s industrial resurgence.

In March 2025, San Luis Potosí, Morelos, and Nayarit recorded the highest annual growth in Mexico’s manufacturing industry, positioning themselves as top-performing states in this critical sector. According to INEGI’s Monthly Indicator of Industrial Activity by Federal Entity (IMAIEF), San Luis Potosí led with an 18.4% increase in manufacturing output, followed by Morelos at 12% and Nayarit at 8.1%.

States Driving Productive Momentum

In addition to these three states, other regions also stood out for their manufacturing performance. Tabasco posted an impressive 31.2% increase, and the State of Mexico recorded 5.7% growth. These results reflect a steady boost in regional production capacity, especially in central and southern Mexico, where export-oriented industries continue to gain strength.

Manufacturing was the strongest component of national industrial growth, with a 3.1% year-over-year increase. San Luis Potosí alone contributed 0.75 percentage points to the overall indicator, one of the highest contributions among all states. Jalisco, Nuevo León, the State of Mexico, and Guanajuato also made significant positive contributions.

Positive Momentum in Strategic Sectors

This manufacturing growth is driven by a combination of investment, technological development, and stronger local supply chains. San Luis Potosí and Morelos have solidified their position in sectors such as auto parts, electrical equipment, and processed foods, while Nayarit has advanced in agro-industrial and light transformation activities with a regional focus.

The manufacturing momentum seen in March reinforces the positive trend observed in the first quarter of the year. INEGI’s data reflects a solid and sustained recovery that could continue to strengthen Mexico’s national economy—particularly amid a global reconfiguration of supply chains, where the country has emerged as a competitive destination for industry.
