Safran Breaks Ground on New Aerospace Expansion in Querétaro
December 11, 2025
Safran has reaffirmed its long-term commitment to Mexico with the groundbreaking of the new expansion of Safran Aero Composite (SAC P3) in Querétaro. The project will increase production capacity for high-precision aerospace components, including the Leading Edge for the LEAP 1A and 1B engines, supported by a team of 132 highly trained specialists from the region. The initiative further consolidates Querétaro as a strategic pillar within Safran’s global aerospace manufacturing network.
Investment in Advanced Aerospace Manufacturing
During the ceremony, Marco Antonio Del Prete Tercero, Secretary of Sustainable Development (SEDESU), emphasized that this expansion represents Safran’s renewed confidence in Querétaro’s industrial ecosystem. He noted that the project will generate specialized jobs, strengthen high-value manufacturing, and contribute to the state's shared goal of advancing toward low-carbon, technology-driven production.
Del Prete highlighted the significance of producing a new titanium component in Querétaro, pointing to the state’s recognition as a global hub for precision aerospace processes. “Querétaro has become a true hub where high-value production is carried out with levels of precision that are difficult to automate entirely,” he said, underscoring the local talent's role in competitiveness.
Querétaro: A Global Pillar for Safran
From a corporate perspective, Olivier Henriot, Director of the Center of Excellence for Fans and Composite Parts, explained that the SAC P3 extension is a strategic milestone for Safran. Querétaro serves as an integrated center of excellence within the company’s global operations, manufacturing key components for LEAP engines used worldwide.
Alejandro Cardona, President of Safran Mexico, stated that breaking ground on this new phase represents the beginning of a project that propels the vision of the Safran family and the aviation industry it supports. He emphasized that this investment adds a third production stream for highly specialized LEAP components, incorporating titanium and sustainable processes aligned with Safran’s environmental commitments.
Jean-Baptiste Vaney, Director of SAC Querétaro, acknowledged the close cooperation with state authorities and noted that since opening in 2017, the plant has aimed to become a benchmark in the aerospace sector. He highlighted that the new expansion will deepen coordination with teams in France and the United States, reinforcing confidence in Mexico’s industrial capabilities and workforce.
Strengthening Mexico’s Aerospace Ecosystem
The expansion of Safran Aero Composite demonstrates the maturity of Querétaro’s aerospace cluster and elevates the region’s role in global supply chains. The project will enhance advanced manufacturing capacity, foster specialized employment, and contribute to the sector’s innovation and sustainability goals.
