The export industry has faced several changes in Tamaulipas during the current year, one of them – and great impact – is the national economic deceleration that affected the state, but mainly the municipality of Reynosa.

The secretary of Economic Development in the state, Carlos Alberto Garcia Gonzalez, said that the growth rate in Reynosa, Tamaulipas continues upwards the national average and this is good news.

“Reynosa is growing above 3 % and this – although we would like to have higher figures – is acceptable for the macroeconomic environment we are living in,” said Garcia Gonzalez.

Regarding the third quarter of the year, the secretary explained that it is positive since there are companies in Reynosa that have announced new operation plants and others that have confirmed expansion projects, mainly by increasing production lines in already established operation plants.

“This trend will continue, helping thus to keep the dynamism that distinguishes this area in the export industry,” added the secretary.

Carlos Garcia Gonzalez also underlined the work done by the government of Tamaulipas and Reynosa with the maquila industry, as actions are permanently implemented for investment attraction.

PROJECTS FOR FUTURE GENERATIONS

The government of Tamaulipas has agreements with the manufacturing industry in technological and polytechnic universities where the Municipal Government also does its part; this generates an educational offer according to the needs in related careers which are demanded by the export industry.

2020

Thanks to the actions implemented are expected that Tamaulipas will continue attracting investment for the transformation industry, however, it is being observed to restarting of auctions in the electric and hydrocarbons sector.

It is known that Tamaulipas has potential in that sector and can allow triggering investments.

“We are expecting these rounds are restarted, by the end of this year, or in 2020,” ended Carlos Alberto Garcia Gonzalez.
