Regal Rexnord makes multi-million dollar investment in Chihuahua, boosting high-value aerospace jobs

Regal Rexnord, a leading company in the aerospace industry, is set to make a significant impact in Chihuahua with an impressive investment of $13.5 million. The state-of-the-art manufacturing plant, located in the Bafar industrial and technological park, will focus on producing critical components for aerospace safety, including connection mechanisms for the aerospace industry and helicopter stabilizers. The specialized processes required for these products, involving advanced materials and intricate machining, will result in the creation of 240 high-value jobs in the region.

Emphasizing the unique approach of Regal Rexnord, Sergio Mancinas, director of INADET Chihuahua, highlighted the company's mindfacture model, centered on specialized manufacturing rather than traditional methods. Chihuahua's skilled workforce and well-established training centers played a pivotal role in the company's decision to settle in the region.

To ensure a highly qualified workforce, CENALTEC has undertaken training for a group of 17 individuals, set to lead Regal Rexnord's operations. The eight-week training program covers a range of specialized topics, including quality, metrology, geometric tolerances, and advanced machining skills, designed to meet the company's exacting requirements.

Promoting local supply in the aerospace sector is a key strategy, and Mancinas stressed the importance of linking large companies like Regal Rexnord with local suppliers. While Chihuahua boasts qualified suppliers capable of meeting the aerospace industry's demands, the challenge lies in obtaining the necessary certifications. To address this, CENALTEC is working on programs to support local companies in obtaining specialized certifications, ultimately strengthening the region's supply chain.
