In 2025—considered a historic year for Swiss investment, with capital flows reaching USD 2.3 billion—ABB Mexico consolidated its position as one of the main corporate drivers of the bilateral economic relationship by strengthening its productive, technological, and talent footprint across the country. As the company marked its 70th anniversary in Mexico, ABB reaffirmed its role as a long-term benchmark in industrial electrification and automation.

ABB’s performance throughout the year aligned with the strong momentum of Swiss investment, which found favorable conditions in Mexico for high-value industrial projects. The company executed strategic expansions that increased its productive and commercial infrastructure by more than 11,700 square meters, reinforcing its capacity to serve key industries and positioning Mexico as a relevant node within its regional and global operations.

Productive Expansions and Job Creation

One of the most significant developments was the expansion of ABB’s production campus in San Luis Potosí, which increased manufacturing capacity and generated more than 220 new jobs. In addition, the company opened a new regional center in San Pedro Garza García, Nuevo León, focused on customer service and technical support in one of the country’s most active industrial zones. These decisions reflect ABB’s confidence in the Mexican market and in its specialized workforce.

Further milestones included the expansion of the Technology and Engineering Center in Mérida, Yucatán—focused on global projects—and the celebration of the 25th anniversary of the Saltillo campus in Coahuila, a facility recognized for its sustainable manufacturing approach, having reduced more than 5,200 metric tons of CO₂e emissions between 2022 and 2024. Collectively, these initiatives resulted in the creation of more than 350 new jobs nationwide.

Swiss Investment and Long-Term Commitment to Mexico

From a business perspective, ABB’s role within the record Swiss investment flow underscores Mexico’s importance in the industrial value chain, particularly in sectors related to energy efficiency, digitalization, and advanced automation. The company also strengthened its social commitment through a network of more than 1,200 volunteers who led 30 community projects benefiting over 2,000 people. ABB was additionally recognized as one of the Top 25 Best Companies for Interns in Mexico 2025.

Looking ahead to 2026, ABB maintains a strategy centered on decarbonization, electrification, and automation, with a clear vision for sustained growth in Mexico. For the Swiss Chamber of Commerce in Mexico, ABB’s trajectory exemplifies the profile of Swiss investment in the country: long-term projects, job creation, technological innovation, and a continuous commitment to developing local talent.
