With a 284.4 million pesos investment,
Qualtia Lacteos announced the expansion of its production plant, which will
have an extension of 2,840 square meters and will be located in the Balvanera
Industrial Park, in the municipality of Corregidora, and will generate 226 new
jobs.
Qualtia created its dairy business unit
six years ago and since 2016 has increased its productive capacity in 70 %,
said Ernesto Gerardo Guerra, manager of the Qualtia Queretaro plant.
“Today begins a new stage in our history
with the construction of a new plant in which we will manufacture with new
innovative processes and revolutionary spaces. Our objective is to continue
offering more and better dairy products which are distinguished by their
flavor, nutrition and offering practical proposals to our customers and
consumers,” said the manager.
Likewise, Andres Enrique Garza Herrera,
general director of Qualtia, noted that it is expected for the plant to be
ready in December to begin operations in January 2020. He added that
expectations are good due to the growth the Queretaro plant has registered
during the last four years, where currently 227 people work.
“It is a plant that has become highly
productive thanks to your effort and the great talent existing in Queretaro; an
industrial culture in the Bajio similar to the one in Monterrey, in the North.
Three percent of national cheese consumption comes from this plant and this
work team, this makes us so proud.”
He added that 65 % of the milk supply in
the plant comes from Queretaro and Guanajuato.
Qualtia belongs to Xingux, a
conglomerate of companies encouraged by more than 26,000 energizers offering
solutions in the energy and food industries. Currently, it operates in eight
countries and its services reach more than 40.
PRIMARY SECTOR
According to figures from the National
Institute of Statistics and Geography, the Gross Domestic Product of the
primary sector of Queretaro in 2018 generated 9,682 million pesos in agri-food
products, which meant an average annual growth of 3 %, said the governor
Francisco Dominguez Servien.
Besides, the state produces more than
one million milk liters per year, positioning it the second national place in
the value of the generated product, exceeding 2,600 million pesos, said Carl
Heinz Dobler, secretary of Agricultural Development.
The ceremony was also attended by Hugo
Eduardo Calva Diaz, commercial director and of marketing at Qualtia; Rolando
Herrera y Saldana, director of Market Analysis in Milk from the Undersecretary
of Food Self-sufficiency SADER; Yessica Adriana Alvarez, Business Leader of
Lacteos Qualtia, Mario Ramirez Retolaza, secretary of Labor, Julio Cesar
Ramirez Arguiello, secretary of Health; and Roberto Sosa Pichardo, mayor of
