2020 was a year of great challenges for the automotive industry industry, an industry that at the beginning of the health contingency had to stop operations; However, the companies producing spare parts or auto parts did not stop.

One of the cases was PYA Automotive , a Mexican company that stands out for its commitment to the environment and is focused on the production of plastic injection automotive parts and that for several years has been a parts supplier for Tesla .

Germán Carrasco, in charge of PYA Automotive, assured that during these months they helped to reinvent many companies in their internal structure and have also explored products and even production developments of PLAs and plastics with organisms and bacteria.

"We have spent almost four or five years in pure research (for Tesla), and for almost 2 years in testing BIO products, which are materials that are biofabricated, and this has been the difference, we have invested a lot of effort and it has helped us all the links that we have had and that in fact COFOCE has supported us from international fairs to meeting institutes outside of Mexico where we make these links and these technological transfers are achieved ”, he said.

Germán Carrasco described Tesla as an OEM  very different from all the others; Since they bet on trends, they are open and receptive to all kinds of technologies.

“Working with them has been something incredible because there is a spirit of total collaboration in the development of new parts and that allows you to expose ideas and not only see you as a manufacturing partner, but as a technology partner, it has definitely been a pleasure working with them ”, he stated.

MEXICAN PRIDE

Currently, PYA Automotive manufactures a product, which, they never thought that a car manufacturer would include such a part in a car. For Tesla build HEPA air filters , which is the filter housing and all the assemblies.

“It is a pride to see in any car something that was manufactured in Mexico, by Mexican engineers. What does it mean to work with them? It means learning and applying: learning all the work methodology that all these companies have and that they do things very well and applying it not only in automotive, but also in non-automotive products and that is the secret ”, he highlighted.

At present, within the company they want to make value-added products with an interesting design manufactured in Mexico, accompanied by biomaterials and biofabricated products, as well as with all the trends that exist for the sector.

PYA Automotive is an example of Industry 4.0 , since it has digitization and automatic monitoring of its entire manufacturing system, which translates into an efficient company that competes in projects worldwide.
