Competitive advantages of Brownsville, Texas for driving economic development and attracting new investments were showcased during the IncMty 2023 festival in Monterrey, Nuevo León, by members of the Greater Brownsville Incentives Corporation (GBIC).

Through presentations featuring Bret Gardella, CEO and Executive Director of GBIC, new connections were established with entrepreneurs, educational authorities, chambers of commerce, and officials.

Jerry Briones, Deputy Executive Director of GBIC, mentioned that the IncMty event focused on understanding trends in entrepreneurship, innovation, business, and sustainability in Latin America.

Three International Bridges

"We highlight aspects such as the infrastructure that facilitates international trade processes; in Brownsville, we are fortunate to have three international bridges, railway lines, an airport, seaport, and another important aspect is the workforce; the development of professionals dedicated to and specializing in the industry," he stated.

The binational collaboration that Brownsville has with Mexican organizations was also a central aspect of the conversation.

In an open dialogue with President Rolando González of Index Matamoros and CEO Roberto Mattus, the unity between both cities was emphasized. "We are promoting ourselves as part of a single region because everything that is beneficial for Brownsville is also beneficial for Matamoros. This collaboration is essential, and thanks to the IncMty festival, we were able to strengthen it."

Various Facilities

Brownsville Community Improvement and the University of Texas of Rio Grande Valley also supported the promotion of investments in the region.

GBIC shared the space with other panelists, including Florence Grace Lingow Marroquín, General Manager of the American Chamber of Commerce of Mexico. "The event was held in collaboration with Tecnológico de Monterrey and the Autonomous University of Nuevo León. We want to express our gratitude to Ana Paola Herbert Urquiza for the various facilities," Briones concluded in an interview with Mexico Industry.
