PPD Plástico, the Canadian plastics injection company, has expanded its footprint in Mexico with the opening of a second plant in Querétaro, reinforcing the state’s role as a destination for advanced automotive manufacturing and supplier development.

The new facility is focused on the production of vehicle seating components, adding capacity in a segment closely tied to OEM demand and the ongoing localization of automotive supply chains in Mexico.

A New Operation Supporting Local Automotive Supply

The expansion reflects a broader trend among manufacturers seeking to deepen local sourcing capabilities and reduce dependence on imported components. According to company leadership, the objective is to move more production closer to assembly operations and strengthen domestic supplier networks.

For Querétaro, the addition of a new plant of this type is relevant not only because of the investment itself, but because it contributes to the development of a more integrated manufacturing base capable of serving global vehicle producers from within Mexico.

Querétaro Continues to Attract Automotive Suppliers

The state has built a strong industrial platform supported by logistics connectivity, technical talent, and a growing supplier ecosystem. In that context, PPD Plástico’s expansion reinforces Querétaro’s attractiveness for companies linked to automotive and advanced manufacturing operations.

A new facility dedicated to seating production also reflects the kind of specialized industrial activity that continues to strengthen the state’s value proposition within Mexico’s automotive sector.

PPD Plástico’s Manufacturing Capabilities in Mexico

PPD operates with two main specializations in Mexico. Through its Foam Solutions Division, the company focuses on molding and manufacturing a wide range of seats for sectors including motorsports, public transportation, industrial equipment, agriculture, marine applications, and medical uses.

Its operations also include plastic injection and molded components manufacturing, which broadens its relevance across multiple production environments and gives the company flexibility to serve different industries from Mexico.

Local Production as a Competitive Advantage

The opening of the second plant also highlights the continued importance of localizing supply chains. For OEMs, stronger regional sourcing can improve coordination, reduce lead times, and create more resilient production systems.

At the same time, the company acknowledged that the 2026 environment remains difficult to project with precision, given the influence of global factors such as tariffs, geopolitical tensions, and changing trade conditions. Even so, the decision to expand in Querétaro signals confidence in the long-term potential of the region as a manufacturing platform.
