Polígono Empresarial San Miguel Aligns Industrial Growth with Querétaro’s Water Sustainability Agenda

Sustainable industrial development in Querétaro increasingly depends on long-term water planning, and Polígono Empresarial San Miguel de Allende (PESMA) is actively participating in that conversation.

The park recently took part in the State Water Advisory Council of Querétaro, contributing to discussions surrounding the State Water Program 2026–2027, a strategic framework that outlines priorities for water management in one of Mexico’s most dynamic industrial regions.

Water availability has become a defining factor for future investment decisions. Querétaro is home to 12 aquifers, seven of which already show deficits, while the Querétaro Valley aquifer faces overexploitation with an estimated annual deficit of up to 70 million cubic meters.

The program warns that the window to implement corrective measures may be limited to the next five to ten years in order to avoid long-term impacts on urban and industrial development.

Industrial Development Linked to Responsible Water Management

In this context, PESMA’s participation underscores the growing recognition that industrial expansion must be accompanied by data-driven, infrastructure-backed water strategies. Modern logistics and manufacturing operations depend not only on energy and connectivity, but also on secure and sustainable water access.

By engaging in state-level planning discussions, Polígono Empresarial San Miguel reinforces its commitment to aligning industrial growth with environmental responsibility and resource efficiency—key factors for companies seeking resilient, future-ready locations.

Infrastructure That Supports Sustainable Operations

Beyond dialogue, PESMA has invested in infrastructure that supports efficient and responsible water use within its development. The park operates an on-site water treatment plant and maintains active installed capacity of 500,000 cubic meters designated for industrial use, ensuring a controlled and reliable supply for tenant operations.

Water availability is further supported by four on-site wells, with more than 1,000,000 cubic meters in annual water rights under management, and an output capacity of up to 11 liters per second. This combination of infrastructure and resource planning provides companies with operational certainty while aligning with broader sustainability goals.

A Competitive Advantage in a Water-Conscious Era

As investors and manufacturers place greater emphasis on environmental stewardship and long-term viability, industrial developments that integrate water management into their planning gain a clear competitive edge. Polígono Empresarial San Miguel demonstrates that responsible resource management and industrial competitiveness can advance together.

By combining active participation in regional water strategy with on-site infrastructure, PESMA positions itself as a forward-looking industrial platform—one that supports both economic growth and the sustainable use of critical natural resources in Querétaro.
