Pilgrim’s to Invest MXN 2.6 Billion to Double Processing Capacity in Gómez Palacio
February 11, 2026
A major agribusiness investment is set to strengthen northern Mexico’s food production and processing capacity. Pilgrim’s Mexico announced a MXN 2.6 billion expansion of its operations in Gómez Palacio, Durango, a project that will double the plant’s production capacity and reinforce the poultry value chain across the La Laguna region.
Located in Gómez Palacio, the facility will undergo a comprehensive modernization process that includes upgrades to farms, hatcheries, and processing centers. The expansion is part of a long-term strategy aimed at meeting growing market demand while improving operational efficiency and production standards.
Industrial Expansion and Job Creation in La Laguna
The project is expected to generate 320 new direct jobs at the expanded facility, along with more than 1,200 indirect positions linked to transportation, supply services, agricultural production, and logistics. The integration of local producers into the company’s supply network will also increase regional participation in higher-value agribusiness activities.
By scaling up its operations, Pilgrim’s will enhance the productive infrastructure of the poultry sector in La Laguna, a region that spans parts of Durango and Coahuila and is recognized as one of Mexico’s key agro-industrial corridors.
Strengthening the Regional Value Chain
Beyond the plant itself, the investment will have a multiplier effect across the local economy by expanding opportunities for small and medium-sized enterprises that provide goods and services to the poultry industry. Increased demand for inputs, construction, transportation, and technical services is expected to further energize the regional industrial ecosystem.
The project reinforces Durango’s position as a competitive destination not only for manufacturing investment but also for large-scale agro-industrial projects that combine advanced processing, supply chain integration, and regional economic development.
With this expansion, Gómez Palacio continues to strengthen its role as a strategic hub for food production and processing in northern Mexico, supporting both domestic supply and export-oriented agribusiness operations.
