The third edition of the Industrial Warehouse Summit in Pharr, Texas, highlighted the opportunities brought by nearshoring, the growth prospects for the logistics and business sectors, and the advantages of the labor force. Organized by the Pharr International Bridge administration in partnership with the Pharr Economic Development Corporation (Pharr EDC), the event brought together various business leaders, organizations, authorities, and chambers to discuss supply chain challenges, logistics opportunities, and future projects.

Luis Bazan, Director of the Pharr International Bridge, emphasized the significance of this international crossing for Mexico-US trade relations. He noted that, so far this year, the bridge has become the eighth most important in commercial value. Meanwhile, Jorge Torres, President of Interlink Trade Services, focused on nearshoring as a trend in logistics and industrial development. He pointed out that manufacturing accounted for over 50% of Foreign Direct Investment (FDI) in Mexico in 2023, primarily in computer equipment manufacturing, electric power generation, and beverage production.

Victor Perez, President of Pharr EDC, highlighted that logistics companies have available land to establish themselves in the city, including distribution centers and dry or cold storage facilities. This allows them to take advantage of Pharr's direct connection to Mexico, particularly its border with Reynosa, Tamaulipas.

A panel discussion was organized to address the educational and professional opportunities in Pharr, featuring Ron Garza, Vice President of Workforce and Economic Development at the University of Texas Rio Grande Valley; Ricardo Solis, President of South Texas College; and Manny Vela, Vice President of Texas A&M University Higher Education Center in McAllen.

Eduardo Vázquez, founder and consultant of ASPE.AI, delivered a special conference on innovation, new technologies, and artificial intelligence applied to the logistics sector.
