Opella Mexico to invest MXN 2.3 billion to expand its plant in Ocoyoacac, State of Mexico

Opella Mexico announced an investment of MXN 2.3 billion to expand and modernize its plant in Ocoyoacac, State of Mexico, a project aimed at strengthening its national production capacity and expanding exports to different international markets. The investment reinforces the company’s strategy to consolidate manufacturing operations and growth within the pharmaceutical industry.
Luis Soares, Director of Opella Mexico, said the investment is part of the company’s strategy to consolidate Mexico as a pharmaceutical manufacturing, innovation and export platform.
“Mexico has everything needed to consolidate itself as a global platform for pharmaceutical production, innovation and exports.”
Opella is a company focused on self-care and everyday health, with a portfolio that includes consumer products such as Allegra, Buscapina, Enterogermina and Essentiale.
New Enterogermina line will boost production capacity in the State of Mexico
According to Soares, more than half of the investment will be allocated to a new Enterogermina production line, a probiotic used for digestive health and considered one of the company’s strategic projects globally.
“This is a highly strategic project for Opella worldwide and positions Mexico within our company’s global manufacturing network.”
The expansion of the plant will increase production capacity to supply the national market and strengthen exports of products manufactured in Mexico.
“This investment will allow us to expand and modernize our Ocoyoacac plant and prepare it to continue ensuring national supply, while also exporting products proudly made in Mexico to different countries.”
Opella strengthens pharmaceutical exports and manufacturing from Mexico
The executive added that the project represents one of Opella’s most relevant investments worldwide and reflects the company’s confidence in Mexico’s industrial capacity and talent.

Soares announced that the new Enterogermina production line will be inaugurated on July 22 at the plant located in Ocoyoacac, State of Mexico.
