Onilog Group reinforced its engagement in cross-border economic development as CEO Guillermo Fernández de Jáuregui participated in the VII Binational Dialogue – Laredos Region, representing COPARMEX Nuevo Laredo.
The forum brought together stakeholders from both sides of the border to address critical issues shaping the future of one of North America’s most important trade corridors.
Addressing Port Competitiveness and Trade Infrastructure
Discussions centered on maintaining the competitiveness of the Laredo–Nuevo Laredo gateway, which handles a significant share of U.S.–Mexico trade. Topics included infrastructure capacity, customs efficiency, and the ability of border ports to sustain increasing cargo volumes driven by nearshoring and regional manufacturing growth.
For logistics companies such as Onilog, the performance of this corridor directly impacts supply chain reliability across automotive, industrial, and consumer goods sectors.
Preparing for the USMCA Review
Participants also examined the upcoming review of the United States–Mexico–Canada Agreement (USMCA), focusing on potential adjustments that could affect trade flows, regulatory frameworks, and investment conditions across North America.
Given the treaty’s central role in facilitating integrated manufacturing networks, any changes carry significant implications for companies operating within cross-border supply chains.
Navigating Migration and Public Health Challenges
Beyond trade issues, the dialogue addressed migration dynamics and public health concerns that influence border operations and regional stability. These factors affect workforce mobility, logistics planning, and the broader economic environment in border communities.
Engagement from private sector leaders underscores the importance of coordinated solutions that balance economic growth with social and operational realities.
Strengthening the Laredos Region’s Future
By participating in the binational forum, Onilog reaffirms its commitment to fostering collaboration between Mexico and the United States and supporting long-term development in the Laredos region.
As trade volumes continue to expand, sustained dialogue among government, business, and civil society stakeholders will be essential to maintaining the corridor’s role as a backbone of North American commerce.
