Swiss company Oerlikon inaugurated a new production cell in Querétaro, where it will manufacture aerospace-grade honeycomb structures for turbines, strengthening its role within the global aerospace supply chain.

New production capacity boosts Querétaro’s aerospace industry

During the event, Marco Antonio Del Prete Tercero, head of the Secretariat of Sustainable Development (SEDESU), highlighted that the company’s expansion responds to a relocation strategy that continues to drive industrial growth in the state, as it integrates into the supply chain of companies that are attracting new production packages.

The official noted that Querétaro offers favorable conditions for investment, including labor stability and specialized talent that allow companies to operate with certainty. In this context, he acknowledged the creation of 50 highly specialized jobs resulting from this new infrastructure.

Strategic partnerships strengthen the supply chain

Wolfgang Schmitz, Oerlikon’s Regional President for the Americas, said the inauguration represents an important milestone in the company’s 150th anniversary, resulting from internal collaboration that turns ideas into industrial solutions and further consolidates the company’s presence in the aerospace sector.

Javier Hervás, CEO of ITP Aero Mexico, explained that the partnership between the two companies will simplify the supply chain by establishing a strategic supplier in Querétaro for the production of key aircraft engine components used worldwide.

At the local level, Alejandro Sterling Sánchez, Secretary of Sustainable Development for the municipality of Querétaro, said that coordination between state and municipal authorities is aimed at maintaining a competitive environment that supports new investment and the creation of formal employment in the region.

Pietro Buccheri, Oerlikon’s LATAM Sales and Operations Director, emphasized that the decision to establish its main plant in Querétaro was based on the state’s strategic position and the conditions it offers for advanced manufacturing, capacity diversification, and stronger resilience against the economic cycles of the aerospace industry.

The launch of operations at this new production cell confirms the momentum of Querétaro’s aerospace sector, which continues to strengthen its position as a key hub for specialized manufacturing in Mexico, with a direct impact on the integration of high-value supply chains
