Nuevo
Leon achieved economic growth of 4 % regarding the same period in 2018 with
deseasonalized figures, reported the National Institute of Statistics and
Geography (INEGI, by its Spanish initials) through the Quarterly Indicator of
the State Economic Activity (ITAEE, by its Spanish initials) for the three
months January-March 2019.
On
its annual appearance, these figures position the state on third national
place, having Sinaloa in first place with a 6.4 % growth and, in second place,
Chihuahua 4.2 %.
Roberto
Russildi Montellano, secretary of Economy and Labor in Nuevo Leon, talked about
the entity’s growth in a positive manner, pointing out other areas in which
growth has been also detected.
“Economy
in Nuevo Leon shows strength, as it has kept a sustained growth. It highlights
the rebound of manufacturing, with 6 % at an annual rate, while the
construction activity keeps an increase of 2.7 %. It is important to
mention that growth was given in other areas such as the services sector, which
registered an increase of 3.6 %,” explained the secretary.
According
to the analysis of the office, the economic growth reported by ITAEE exceeds
0.9 % registered a year ago when the manufacturing and construction activity
recorded a decrease of 1.2 % and 2.3 % respectively. At deseasonalized
figures, ITAEE growth is 3.3 %.
For
Nuevo Leon, expectations continue to be positive, since the industrial sector
records an actual growth of 8.2 % by May, this according to figures collected
by the Monthly Survey of Manufacturing Industry (EMIN, by its Spanish initials)
from INEGI.
“Within
a national and international complex climate, Nuevo Leon is sending clear
signals of certainty. These indicators said that there is confidence to
continue investing in the state, as well as the dynamism and effort, showed by
all productive sectors to adapt and strengthen their competitiveness,” said
Russildi.
In
comparison, 4 % of the economic growth in the state opposes the growth rate of
the national economy, which is 1.2 %. Other states that stood out by the
increase of their economic activity were Yucatan, Colima, Baja California and
Tlaxcala.
