With an investment of $300 million, the Korean company Doosan Bobcat has begun constructing its first manufacturing plant in Nuevo León, located in the Interpuerto Monterrey Industrial Park.

This new project, set to be completed in two years, will produce Bobcat M-Series compact loaders and commence operations in early 2026, creating between 600 to 800 new jobs.

“We have seen significant growth across our business, and this new plant contributes to our long-term plans to increase production and meet customer demand,” commented Scott Park, CEO and Vice Chairman of Doosan Bobcat.

During the groundbreaking ceremony, the company announced its intention to seek LEED Silver certification and incorporate state-of-the-art technology focused on quality, precision, and energy efficiency.

“Our investment here demonstrates our confidence in this manufacturing environment and the thriving local economy,” said Mike Ballweber, President of Doosan Bobcat North America.

Promotion and Development of Nuevo León

Samuel García, Governor of Nuevo León, expressed that his international trips to promote Nuevo León have allowed the state to maintain upward economic indicators. He mentioned that one of the companies visited was Doosan Bobcat, which secured the land and obtained all federal and local permits for the construction of its plant in Nuevo León within just eight months.

“In June, we are once again leading in employment, setting records in revenue collection, formal employment, higher wages, and better quality of life. This is thanks to a great team that, every day, through the Ministry of Economy, ensures that companies have the certainty they need, tailoring solutions to their requirements, and showcasing the strengths of Nuevo León—its security, reliability, and the ease of doing business here,” García stated.

Upcoming Asia Tour

At the event, García announced that in October, he will undertake another work tour in Asia, specifically visiting South Korea, Japan, and China, to showcase the progress Nuevo León is making in infrastructure projects.

“First, the Gloria to Colombia Highway is ready to improve Nuevo León's logistics. Second, the new customs facility is under construction, and by August, it will have a concrete road and expanded lanes, making it the most secure, fastest, and best-logistics customs facility in all of Mexico. Third, in Nuevo León, we will have the fiscal incentive program ready, including a tax-free zone at the Colombia customs and a zone of tax exemptions for ten industries, such as electromobility, solar panels, batteries, medical products, construction, steel, and others,” he detailed.
