NL Industrial Sector introduced its environmental agenda

The Institute for Environmental Protection (IPA, by its Spanish initials) from the Chamber of the Transformation Industry in Nuevo Leon (CAINTRA, by its Spanish initials) presented the Environmental Agenda of the Industrial Sector in Nuevo Leon: In Balance.

“For generations, as industrial sector, we have been an important part of the impulse that has made Nuevo Leon a referent on entrepreneurship and development.  We shared the concern to improve air quality.  This problem affect us, in our health, as in our companies’ productivity,” IPA explained.

It is accurate – he noted – that Nuevo Leon has an effective development policy, which promotes the growth and pursue citizens’ life quality.

“Before this historical challenge it is necessary to assume commitments that generate concrete actions.  As industrial sector will do our part,” he said.

The Environmental Agenda of the Industrial Sector in NL: In balance will be renewed every three years and during this triennial has as transversal axis of Air Quality.

These are some of the main actions it observes:

 

Support for companies to encourage compliance and eco-efficiency:

·         Offers monthly and for free the workshop in Eco-efficiency and Good Environmental Performance taught by IPA.

·         Offers all industrial companies an Environmental Fulfillment Diagnosis by IPA for free.

·         Promote an increased participation of NL industrial sector in the National Program of Environmental Audit Clean Industry of PROFEPA.

 

Supporting the generation of information and knowledge:

·         Implementing, with advisory from SEMARNAT and INECC, a measurement system of industrial sources emissions to supplement the current Comprehensive System of Environmental Monitoring of the metropolitan area of Monterrey.

·         Encourage programs to promote circular economy schemes and responsible production and consumption.

·         To periodically present a report of environmental equipment investments of the industrial sector.


Actions in benefit of air quality:

·         Pilot of Volunteer Vehicular Verification for vehicles fleets of companies and available for citizens in general.

·         Encourage a Sustainable Business Mobility Program under the advisory of SEMARNAT.

·         Promote access to better fuel quality for the metropolitan area of Monterrey.

·         Undertake actions regarding industrial fixed sources described on the Management Program to Improve Air Quality in the State of Nuevo Leon (ProAire) 2016-2025.
