Nexteer Strengthens Mexican Engineering With a $20 Million Investment in a New Automotive Design Center

Nexteer Automotive México inaugurated its new Technical Center in Querétaro, consolidating its leadership in the design, validation, and prototyping of advanced automotive systems. The company is thus reinforcing its commitment to innovation and local engineering, creating 400 specialized jobs that will strengthen the region’s industrial ecosystem. In March 2024, the company announced a $20 million investment for this center.

Automotive innovation with a global vision

During the ceremony, Robin Milavec, president and chief technology officer of Nexteer, emphasized that the investment represents a strategic step toward the future of mobility. “This center drives sustainable and innovative solutions that add value to the regional innovation ecosystem,” he said. He added that the complex promotes collaboration among government, academia, and industry—pillars that have made Querétaro one of the most dynamic technology hubs in Mexico.

VP and COO of Nexteer México, Juan Farías, underlined that the opening symbolizes the spirit of working together. “When industry, government, and the community come together to create opportunities, great things happen. This space is the convergence between creativity and engineering to strengthen the region’s role in the global automotive sector,” he stated.

Expanding automotive ecosystem

The head of the Secretariat of Sustainable Development (SEDESU), Marco Antonio Del Prete Tercero, noted that Nexteer’s confidence reaffirms Querétaro’s position as a national benchmark in advanced manufacturing. He pointed out that the state ranks third in auto parts production nationwide despite not having an automaker installed, reflecting the strength of its network of suppliers, engineers, and design centers.

Del Prete stressed that Querétaro remains committed to promoting sustainable manufacturing and the creation of added value: “We are allies of those who want to do things right. The challenge is to continue growing with the environment and Querétaro’s families in mind,” he said.

With this inauguration, Nexteer Automotive reaffirms its confidence in Mexico and its long-term vision for smart and sustainable mobility, aligned with global trends in the sector.
