New manufacturing plant opens in Puerto Palomas

The company Compass Made opened their production plant in Puerto Palomas de Villa, Chihuahua.  On its first phase, such company will employee 10 operators, on a 1,600 square meters building, with a short term goal of 30 employees, and throughout 300.  The initial investment was of 80 million pesos.

The opening was attended by international company officials, deputies and local syndicates and in representation of the Ministry of Innovation and Economic Development, Jaime Campos Castuera, industry director.

The company will manufacture harnesses for the automotive industry, beginning with injection harnesses for engines, and an initial investment of eighty million dollars.

“We will begin with harnesses for engine injection, with a production line that will be increased during the next six months, until having 300 people working here,” said Salvador Moreno Sanchez, plant manager.

Campos underlined the benefits this will bring to the Puerto Palomas area and its people, who will be benefited with a decent job; in addition he highlighted the collaboration between State Government and settled companies.

“Companies have the support from the Ministry of Innovation and Economic Development, approaching them to national supply, which is one of the purposes of this Government: that conationals are part of the exporting maquila industry productive chain,” assured the director of Industry.

The sectional president of Puerto Palomas de Villa, Ramon Rodriguez Prieto thanked the initiative of Compass Made, in addition of the support received by all those interested in the project.

“Compass Made has more than two years investing and in management, in which have gather people from the community: merchants, businessmen and Government,” assured Rodriguez Prieto.

In exclusive interview for Mexico Industry, Salvador Moreno, plant manager, considered that this new project is important, since it considerably contributes to rekindle the industry.  “For 14 years Puerto Palomas de Villa has not had maquila companies working,” he said.

Moreover, he said that on this first stage their main customer Gillig and its main supplier is TE Technologies.

He added that it is important to establish confidence with the people of Puerto Palomas on a first stage of that the plant will be permanently in the location, committing to personal development to make them part of the company.
