Navistar invests 120 million dollars to expand its plant in Nuevo León

Navistar  announced that it will invest 120 million dollars over the next three years to expand the paint booth area at its plant located in Escobedo, Nuevo León, the company's largest worldwide and where it directly employs 6,200 people.

Navistar Executive Vice President of Operations Michael Grahe said this investment will accelerate the company's progress in anticipating customer needs and market demand , while giving it the opportunity to increase its quality and sustainability efforts. in your plant.

For his part, Bernardo Valenzuela, president of Navistar México y Exportación, said that the capital injection is a sign of the company's long-term commitment to Nuevo León and Mexico, while continuing to expand its operation in the country.

Since its opening in 1998, more than 850,000 commercial vehicles have been produced at the Escobedo plant In addition, it is the birthplace of the only 100% battery truck produced in Mexico.

With an extension of more than 110 hectares, the production capacity is 67,000 units per year, which are mainly exported to the United States and Canada.

 Since its arrival, more than two decades ago and prior to this announcement, this productive unit has received investments for an amount of 462 million dollars.

The head of the Ministry of Economy , Iván Rivas, pointed out that 24% of the investments that came to the state during the past year correspond to the automotive industry.

 “The automotive industry is vital for Nuevo León, since it represents 24 percent of the investments that arrived in 2022. We are proud that companies in this sector, such as Navistar, continue their expansion while generating jobs and opportunities for families” he explained.
