Aguascalientes reported 31 investment projects in ten months totaling more than MXN 16 billion, with a projection exceeding 5,000 direct jobs. The capital inflows are distributed across the automotive, technology, agro-industrial, energy, and commercial sectors, diversifying the state’s production base and strengthening its profile as a competitive and reliable destination for national and foreign capital.

The state’s industrial and logistics ecosystem expanded through new industrial parks, increasing production and distribution capacity in central Mexico. This network provides infrastructure and services for companies seeking scalability, operational certainty, and access to both domestic and export markets.

Formal employment and competitiveness

Employment: Aguascalientes reached more than 365,000 workers registered with the IMSS and recorded an annual growth of 1.8%, ranking among the top states nationwide. The result stems from investment attraction policies, industry–academia collaboration, and technical training programs that strengthen local talent and improve productivity.

Competitiveness: the state ranked fifth nationwide in the 2025 IMCO State Competitiveness Index, with third-place performance in Innovation and Economy. This progress confirms a favorable environment for business, R&D, and value-chain expansion, generating positive effects for nearshoring in Mexico.

International promotion: products labeled “Made in Aguascalientes” participated in missions and trade fairs in Canada, the United States, Germany, Japan, and Spain. The strategy opened channels for the agro-industrial, electronics, and transportation sectors, focusing on market diversification and export opportunities for SMEs and medium-sized companies.

At Foodex Japan 2025, the state delegation achieved 59 business linkages and projected sales of MXN 36.5 million. In addition, participation in Anuga Germany 2025 and Florida Food and Wine created new opportunities for exporters, expanding their client base and strengthening Mexico’s global presence.

Record exports: in 2024, Aguascalientes reached USD 14.26 billion in exports, with an annual growth of 11.7%, above the national average. The Denomination of Origin for Aguascalientes Mezcal, granted this year, benefits more than 25 producers and drives the Mezcal Route, boosting identity, tourism, and sustainable development.

Outlook: the administration reaffirmed its commitment to a competitive, innovative, and sustainable model. The business-oriented approach prioritizes investment, formal employment, and supply-chain integration, with potential for greater local supplier development and higher wages, strengthening Mexico’s export position.
