Mitsubishi expands its production with third plant in the state

Mitsubishi Electric Automotive announced the investment of 41 million dollars in the state of Querétaro with the construction of its third plant for the manufacture of auto parts and components, such as EPS, central information display and LED control unit; which will generate at least 337 new jobs.

The president of the plant, Shuichi Tamura, emphasized the strategic location of the entity for the automotive industry and thanked the authorities and their work team to finalize this expansion.

"Like Mitsubishi, our experience in Querétaro has been very good, we are very pleased, and the people, companies, institutions have supported us a lot, we are very grateful," he said.

Currently, the company has two plants located in San Juan del Río, the first of 37,400 square meters and the second of 13,600, in which electric traction equipment is produced for various types of trains for mass passenger transport, such as Mexico City subway and the suburban train of the State of Mexico.

From Querétaro, Mitsubishi Electric Automotive reports the production of 9,000 equipment and components. In addition, it exports to markets in the East, Latin America and the United States.

In Querétaro, from October 2015 to September 2019, 17 projects of Japanese origin have been completed, mainly from the automotive sector, which have generated more than 3,000 jobs with an economic spill of 6,570 million pesos, said the Secretary of Sustainable Development, Third Prete framework.

He added that the manufacture of auto parts during the first half of 2019, accounted for 33% of foreign direct manufacturing investment in the state, with 135 million dollars.

"This area is the main engine of the economy of the entity, is the largest contributor to the total value of manufacturing and has the third highest percentage growth in the period from January to August this year production" the secretary said.

According to the Ministry of Economy, Japanese capital flows nationwide reached $ 426 million in the first half of 2019, of which 10% corresponded to Querétaro, positioning it as the fifth largest investment recipient of Japanese origin in the country.

During his speech, the governor of the state, Francisco Domínguez Servién, reported that from January to August 2019, the manufacture of transport equipment produced 59.566 million pesos, which represents a 9.3% increase over the same period of 2018.
