Mission EDC Announces $9.5 Million Rodco Steel Expansion

The Economic Development Corporation in Mission City , Texas (Mission EDC), announced the expansion of RODCO Steel Distributors , which, through an investment of $9.5 million, will develop 100,000 square feet of new industrial space , with which promotes the creation of new jobs and the economic development of the region.
This is the second location of the company in this city, which arrived since 2017.
The new site located on Frontage Road, west of Conway Avenue, will have two buildings, the first two-story, spanning 60 feet tall; according to Mission EDC , the upper level will offer 15,000 square feet of industrial office space.
While the lower floor will offer 43,000 square feet of warehouse space, both floors available for lease
As for the second building that will be located just behind the first, it will have a capacity of 43,000 square feet and will be used for the company's manufacturing of metal doors.
RODCO Steel manufactures prefabricated metal buildings for various industries, including agriculture, and also distributes steel.
In Mission's new RODCO Steel expansion , the company will turn to door manufacturing as part of a groundbreaking project expected to be completed in spring 2024.
“I just want to thank the City of Mission, Mission EDC and the Chamber for all their help and support, we have been here since 2017 and we plan to continue to grow here in Mission,” said RODCO Steel owner Omar Rodriguez.
The Rodco II Industrial Center broke ground on April 18, and during the start-up, 15 new manufacturing-related jobs were announced.
Also the existence of an agreement with the company Harbor Freight Tools , which will open its fourth complex in Hidalgo County, Texas, next to the new RODCO Steel plant .
Mission EDC promotes the continued economic development of this binational region. With the recent expansion of RODCO Steel , the arrival of upcoming investors is expected, who are in search of a prosperous place for their business.
“At Mission EDC we look for projects that attract significant investment, with new jobs and that improve the workforce, as well as the community. This project meets all the requirements,” said Teclo Garcia, CEO of Mission EDC .
Following the Covid-19 pandemic, the McAllen-Mission metropolitan area has rebounded with around 30,000 new jobs . In Mission alone there are 3,000 jobs contributing to economic recovery, with small and medium-sized companies like RODCO Steel leading the way.
