Mexico’s automotive clusters promoted AI-driven collaboration at FIAC 2025 in Córdoba, Argentina, and signed a cooperation agreement to boost innovation in Latin America.
The inaugural Córdoba International Automotive Forum (FIAC) brought together key industry leaders from Mexico and Latin America to discuss the future of the automotive sector, highlighting the role of collaborative innovation and the transformative potential of artificial intelligence (AI).
Mexico’s Vision for the Automotive Future
The forum featured a dedicated panel on Mexico’s automotive industry, with speakers including Manuel Montoya, CEO of the Nuevo León Automotive Cluster (CLAUT); Juan Pablo Pedraza, Global R&D&I Director at Ternium and President of the DRIVEN/CLAUT Innovation Center; and Jorge Charles, President of the Chihuahua Automotive Cluster.
Panelists stressed that global knowledge surpasses individual capacity, making “experienced innovation” – a continuous improvement process fueled by collaboration – the foundation for competitiveness. They emphasized that innovation should not focus solely on creating a “mega new car” but on transforming business models to meet evolving market demands.
A key takeaway was the need to embrace emerging technologies, particularly AI, which offers developing nations a unique opportunity to “level the playing field” with global competitors. Leveraging Latin America’s crisis management expertise, panelists suggested that the current period of “constant challenges” could be the ideal environment to implement AI-driven solutions.
International Cooperation for Innovation
During the event, the Nuevo León Automotive Cluster (CLAUT), the Chihuahua Automotive Cluster, and the Córdoba Automotive and Sustainable Mobility Cluster (CLAUTO) signed a collaboration agreement. The pact aims to strengthen innovation, development, and integration within the automotive industry across Latin America.
The signing ceremony also included the participation of the Córdoba Competitiveness Center. As part of the program, Juan Pablo Pedraza presented the DRIVEN/CLAUT Innovation Center project, while Manuel Montoya and Jorge Charles shared perspectives on mobility challenges and opportunities in the region.
The initiative marks a significant step toward fostering international cooperation, promoting technological adoption, and enhancing the region’s competitiveness in the global automotive landscape.
