Mexican talent produces the new Volkswagen Taos in Puebla

The new Taos model is the most important bet of the year for Volkswagen de México, which will assemble this unit at its plant in Puebla for the North American region . 

The country will be the first global market to market the vehicle, and this model complements the German company's offensive in the SUV segment and strengthens its product portfolio in the region.

The new Taos is the fourth model produced at the Mexican plant that has the MQB Transversal Modular Platform and, with its introduction, Volkswagen nurtures its catalog of SUVs to five models by the end of this 2020: T-Cross, Taos, Tiguan, Teramont and very soon the Cross Sport.

Edgar Estada, director of the Volkswagen Brand in Mexico, explained that SUVs revolutionized Volkswagen's portfolio in Mexico , and currently their objective is to position themselves as the leading brand in this category. 

"The new Taos is presented in the Mexican market at a key moment where innovation, technology and safety complement the progressive thinking of the Volkswagen Brand reflected in each of its models," he commented.

With the concept of a 5-seat version, the model comes to cover the entry part of the A SUV segment , where the Tiguan was successfully established , achieving the strengthening of the German automaker, with an innovative, fresh and youthful design, with a touch of sophistication and special emphasis on safety.

Steffen Reiche, president of the Executive Council of Volkswagen de México, affirmed that the new model will position itself in the growing segment of A SUV , and will help to promote the financial recovery of the company, in addition to economic development in Mexico. 

"The product is proudly built by Mexican hands, and allows us to continue growing in the regional market and in the Puebla plant, as well as providing job stability to the thousands of families that are part of the automotive industry," he said.

The Puebla plant has prepared a production line dedicated to the New Taos . The area is the most modern of the factory, with which Volkswagen is expected to increase its sales and production volume by 2021. 

The new Taos will be available in pre-booking starting on November 3 of this year. In addition, on that date the prices of the different versions will be announced and it is expected that the first units will be delivered before the end of 2020.

DESIGN AND COMFORT

The exterior design of the Taos features a new center grille with an illuminated lip in LED technology , main headlights in LED technology, a robust body, with sleek but youthful and modern lines. It has newly designed 17 ”and 18” wheels and 6 different exterior colors, including very vivid and striking colors.

The interior design is forward-thinking with premium trim and finishes. The cabin is shaped by clean lines with a horizontal approach. It features mood lighting on the front doors and dash with 10 selectable colors for the driver to express their individuality and a multifunctional leatherette-wrapped steering wheel. The bi-tone seats add a trendy touch, the panoramic roof brings roominess and freshness to the cabin and the 2-zone Climatronic air conditioning helps keep all passengers comfortable.

TECHNOLOGY AND INFOTAINMENT

The Taos model offers the latest in connectivity and infotainment technology . With Wireless App Connect it allows the customer to bring applications from their smartphone to the touch screen of the infotainment system without the need for cables, a wireless cell phone charger, a high-resolution Digital Cockpit that offers a high level of personalization and interaction with the information available from the vehicle , new 10 ”touchscreen radio with color screen, Bluetooth, 3 USB type C and six speakers.

SECURITY

In addition to having witnesses such as the tire pressure loss and systems such as ESC, ABS, ASR and 6 airbags, the new Taos is equipped with very sophisticated driving assistants from its entry version. The Collision Warning Assist (Front Assist) and Emergency Braking System was devised to alert the driver when a potential impact is detected and even has the ability to apply the brakes. It also has Adaptive Cruise Control (ACC)  that automatically modifies speed to match the pace of traffic, is equipped with a rear-view camera and a blind spot detection system.
