METSO Expands Operations with the Inauguration of New Plant in Irapuato, Guanajuato
Finnish company METSO marked a significant milestone with the inauguration of its third plant in Irapuato, Guanajuato, dedicated to the production of polymer for filter press applications. Between 2019 and 2023, METSO invested $67.2 million, creating nearly 500 direct and indirect jobs across its three plants.
The two existing plants in Irapuato manufacture rubber components, including rubber and poly-met components, truck bed liners, wear liners, mill linings, conveyor parts, and pump components.
This new complex, part of a larger 9,000-square-meter facility, will substantially enhance supply capabilities and deliveries for METSO's mining and aggregates customers in North and Central America. The screening plant incorporates the latest advanced and sustainable manufacturing practices, featuring solar panels supplying approximately 50% of its electricity needs.
Forward-Thinking Vision
Governor Diego Sinhué Rodríguez Vallejo of Guanajuato attended the inauguration, praising METSO's deep roots and forward-thinking vision in the region. He stated, "METSO is a company deeply rooted in Guanajuato. You are further proof that our ecosystem does work."
Alfredo Monreal, Sales and Service Manager at METSO, emphasized that expanding operations not only fosters business growth but also contributes to community development. He expressed, "This plant not only represents an economic investment but also creates jobs, strengthening the social and economic fabric of Irapuato and Guanajuato. Today, we not only inaugurate a manufacturing point but also celebrate a milestone in our journey, and we are excited about the future; let's continue working together to build a path of sustainable success for the industry, the state, and the region."
Opportunities for the Americas
The inauguration of METSO's screening plant in Mexico aims to raise production standards and provide a better option for its customers. Monreal highlighted the strategic geographic location of the plant in Mexico, creating more significant opportunities for the North and Central American markets.
The event was attended by key figures, including Ramón Alfaro Gómez (Secretary of Sustainable Economic Development), Lorena Alfaro García (Mayor of Irapuato), Jim Rico (Plant Manager at METSO Irapuato), and Mikko Salonen (Representative of the Embassy of Finland), among other distinguished guests.
METSO is a leader in sustainable technologies, comprehensive solutions, and services for the aggregates, mining, metal refining, and recycling industries.
