Metsa produces high quality tanks for the world

Founded in April 1983, Maquinado de Equipos y Tanques S.A. de C.V. (Metsa) is a Mexican company headquartered in Monterrey, Nuevo Leon, dedicated to the manufacture of propane gas stationary tanks and its accessories for commercial and residential use.

 Metsa belongs to Grupo RG, a propane gas distributor.  The company was originally founded to integrate the manufacturing of distribution tanks to the company; afterward, the direction changed the strategy and turned into a company with a higher autonomy for the manufacturing and sale of products to third parties.

The company has automated welding stations to guarantee the quality and repeatability of the work in operations that will be hard to perform.

“We have been working with IoT Technology developers to launch an Intelligent Tank that will be integrated with reading equipment, settled in the measuring device that will automatically provide readings of gas levels to distributors and customers to optimize routes, lower costs and assure the customer never runs out of gas. This product will be ready to offer as an option as of 2020,” said Robert Kenney plant manager at Metsa.

Metsa tanks have a different design, which allows the easy and efficient transportation of its products to its customers and final users. This provides the possibility of generating savings in logistics that at the end is not part of the main Metsa business or its customers.

“The strategic business location, in the Metropolitan area of Monterrey at the exit of the highway to Laredo, Texas, gives us the possibility of moving tanks quick to the border to be distributed in the United States and Canada. We stand out for our high level of customer service. As we are a private and family company, our main encouragement is to have happy customers and assure they will not have a hard time when executing their business,” he added.

Regarding the workforce, Kenney assured that manufacturing companies depend mostly on the people they manufacture their components with quality and efficiency to make their business profitable; and added that Metsa invests a great number of resources in training their personnel to be certified in processes that have been audited and validated by external companies with international certification.

The manager said that the workforce in the area of Cienega de Flores is highly capable of fulfilling quality jobs, therefore they use welders and operators to achieve first quality products.

“We understand that gas tanks and propane are highly risky; therefore, we take safety and quality extremely seriously, with first quality equipment,” he deepens.

Finally, Kenney said the company just ended an expanded started at the beginning of 2018 and added that among other projects they are exploring the marketing of their complete capability, which includes products beyond gas tanks.

“We export to the United States, Canada, Central America, the Caribbean, Peru, Chile, and Guam.  We are in the process of expanding to Dubai through region distributors. We have the initiative of turning Metsa into a truly global company and be able to serve the LP Gas industry around the world,” he ended.

Metsa has ASME certification for the construction of boilers and pressure containers and NOM Mexican certification for the manufacturing of such containers.
