METLAC to open a center for production and research in Queretaro

The Italian company METLAC announced they will be investing 655.5 million pesos to establish their production plant and a Technical Center for Research and Development in Queretaro.

The company is a worldwide leader in the chemical sector, their main activity is coatings production and metallic packaging with the highest technology.  According to METLAC, the plant will be located at the Puerta Queretaro Industrial Park, in the municipality of El Marques.  In addition, it is estimated to generate about 300 new jobs.

During the investment announcement, Pierre Ugo Bocchio, CEO of Metlac, said that this plant will be their first subsidiary outside Italy and with it they will be serving the requirements of the Latin American market.

He said that the company model of Queretaro will be established at this production center in Queretaro, where they are preparing the beginning of operations as soon as possible.

Regarding this, Francisco Dominguez, governor of Queretaro, referred that without doubt METLAC arrival is good news for the municipality of El Marques.

“Their bet on development and research will find here in Queretaro the best schemes of linkage with the industry, the academy, centers of research and the Government as facilitator.  Through our growth model, which we call Triple Helix, they will be injecting added value to their production processes to supply the Latin American market,” he said.

Meanwhile, Marco Antonio Del Prete, secretary of Sustainable Economic Development, announced that some of the products exported by Italy are drugs, oil or of bituminous minerals, precious metal articles of jewelry, including precious metal cladding, parts and accessories of vehicles, articles of fittings, similar organs for pipes and boilers. 

In addition, he said that 2.5 % of imports in Queretaro, as well as 0.4 % of their exports had as origin and destination, respectively, Italy, being thus the fourteenth country of exports destinations and the eighth in imports in the entity.

Finally, he said that the Ministry of Economy reports 57 companies for 2018 with Italian capital, 2.79 % of the total national and 3.75 % of the total companies in Queretaro, mainly dedicated to the wholesale commerce sector and to the manufacture of machinery and equipment for manufacturing industries.
