Mercado Libre will invest $180 million in the state of Nuevo León to build a new distribution center in Escobedo and hire approximately 1,600 new employees.
“Since we began operations in 2021 through 2024, we have contributed over $325 million to the state. Currently, we employ more than 1,700 people from Nuevo León, enabling us to handle over 150,000 daily shipments. With the upcoming opening of the Escobedo CEDIS, this number will rise to 3,300 employees, allowing us to continue delivering the best experience for our users in Nuevo León,” said Omar Ramírez, Senior Director of Logistics for Mercado Libre México.
The second Mercado Libre distribution center in Nuevo León, whose construction will begin soon, will strengthen the company’s logistics network. It will join the 12 existing centers strategically located across Mexico, along with more than 100 last-mile operation sites.
Equipped with cutting-edge technology, artificial intelligence, and automation, the new facility will streamline shipments, enhance service quality, reduce geographical barriers, and accelerate the delivery of thousands of products.
"Hecho en Nuevo León" Initiative
During the event, Mercado Libre and the state government signed a collaboration agreement to launch the official "Hecho en Nuevo León" store. This initiative aims to support local producers and businesses by enabling them to sell their products on the marketplace, contributing to the digitalization of commerce.
The store will provide entrepreneurs with a platform to market their products while benefiting from Mercado Libre's ecosystem, including storage and shipping services, facilitating their connection with a broader customer base.
