The work team of the McAllen Economic Development Corporation (MEDC), led by Keith Patridge, its president and CEO, have held various visits with potential prospects who wish to invest in this Texas city, as well as like in Mexico.
The companies with which they are working are 29, which come from various countries, such as Mexico, China, Korea, Italy, India, the Philippines, and even the United States.
Patridge explained that 18 of these projects are contemplated exclusively for the United States; speaking of twin plants ( twin plants ), three for the US and Mexico; and eight only for Mexico.
Keith Patridge said that if these prospects become firm commitments, they will mean thousands of new jobs for the McAllen area, along with a capital investment in the many tens of millions of dollars.
He added that seven of those companies are new leads that they just got in the last month, so activity is definitely picking up.
For his part, Ralph Garcia, vice president of MEDC , commented that two Chinese manufacturing companies are looking at Mexico to establish their operations. This speaks of the potential in attracting investments that are turning to see this region to settle.
