McAllen, Texas Leads Employment Rate in South Texas.

The city of McAllen, Texas concluded 2023 with the lowest unemployment rate in South Texas.
The South Texas Manufacturers Association (STMA), through statistics from Workforce Solutions, indicated that during November, the unemployment levels stood at 3.8%, while in October, it was at 4.1%, lower than other cities such as Edinburg, Mission, Laredo, Harlingen, and Brownsville.

On the other hand, between October and November, 7,400 new jobs were recorded across various sectors dedicated to industry, commerce, and services.
The statistics are divided into October with 4,700 jobs and November with 2,700. In October, 100 jobs correspond to mining, forestry, and construction, 600 to the logistics sector including transportation, trade, and utilities, 100 in the category of financial activities, and another 100 in professional and business services.
Meanwhile, 1,500 in private education and health services, 100 in hospitality, and 2,100 in public education and government-related roles.

In November, 1,300 jobs were categorized in the logistics sector of trade, transportation, and public service, 100 in private education and health services, 300 in hospitality, 100 in the category of other services, and 1,000 in government, which also includes education.
Mike Willis, CEO of STMA, explained that the unemployment levels in the last months of 2023 are a boost to maintain a positive outlook during 2024. "Unemployment rates overall showed a slight decrease throughout South Texas; most signals point to a steady and continuous improvement in the inflation rate."
