MATCOR MATSU EXPANDS OPERATIONS WITH 90 MILLION DOLLARS IN NEW PLANT

With an investment of 90
million dollars, Matcor Matsu, a Canadian company from the automotive sector,
expanded its operations with a new plant in Ramos Arizpe, Coahuila, where 400
new jobs were generated.
Matcor Matsu Plant 2,
located in the Amistad Aeropuerto Industrial Park, a few kilometers of the air
terminal and adjoining to the deliverance Oscar Flores Tapia, occupies a
surface of 247,000 square feet or 45,000 square meters, of which 25,000 were of
construction.
In this new plant, metallic
structures are produced for boards and automobile seats for customers like
General Motors, Chrysler, Lear, Yang Feng, and Adient, among other customers in
the country.
In 2017 the Canadian
company placed the foundation stone of their plant, and in mid-2018 began
operations with 550 employees.
Anticipating amount 950 collaborators at 100 % of operations.
Daniel Tiberini, general
director of the company, underlined that the results obtained during the last
year were part of the reasons why the company decided to expand in the entity.
“We celebrated the opening
of this plant which would not be possible without the work of all our
collaborators, our partners, suppliers, who gave us the confidence of investing
in Coahuila and create what we have today,” said the directive.
He explained that they will
be producing here about 45,000 auto-parts per week, which will be sent to 21
customers of the country, Poland, the United States, and Canada. Likewise, he recognized that the Empresa Amistad,
as they will be housed in one of the most modern industrial parks in the State,
assuring due to all that it was easier to decide to invest in the entity.
“Since the beginning of our history, our mandate was simply to endeavor to achieve excellence in total customer satisfaction. Before the introduction of Lean Manufacturing System, we operated and continue being our main founders of operating with the ‘soul of a small company’,” he added.
QUALITY REFLECTED IN GROWTH
Founded in 1991, in
Mississauga, Ontario, Canada, Matcor Matsu has achieved to expand its
operations towards the United States, achieving being present in places like
Missouri, Michigan, Ohio and Alabama, amounting with the two industrial
buildings in Ramos Arizpe, in Mexico, 10 plants and a technological center, for
a total of 1.6 million square feet of manufacturing territory.
Matcor Matsu opened its new
facilities in Ramos Arizpe, after publishing the global report The Metal
Working Market who considered recently this company as one of the keys within
their sector in the international market.
Besides Tiberini, at the opening of this industrial building were present directives of the Canadian company, as Markus Zanker, president of Matcor Matsu and Virgilio Lopez Rascon, director of operations in Mexico. Among the authorities that attended the event were Miguel Angel Riquelme Solis, governor of Coahuila; as well as Jaime Guerra Perez, secretary of Economy; Jose Maria Morales, mayor of Ramos Arizpe; Jose Guadalupe Guardiola Ledezma, general secretary of the Confederation of State Workers of Coahuila, CTM; Marco Ramon, president of Amistad Industrial Parks; and Lilia Gutierrez Burciaga, local deputy.
CONFIDENCE IN INVESTORS
Miguel Angel Riquelme
thanked Matcor Matsu directives their confidence in choosing Coahuila as the
destination of this new project and reasserted that the state continues
standing out within Foreign Direct Investment (FDI,) and that continues to be a
reliable port for a business of neighboring countries.
He told Marcor Matsu
directives that they could find in the state the conditions for their
investment be rewarding, and that in addition their employees – and those
coming from other countries to direct this company – find the best life quality
and the great hostess people of Coahuila are; mainly, the qualified workforce
they need to be successful in their company.
One of the factors that the
state official added is that the educational sector is linked with the
productive sector, this means, Coahuila is continuously producing workforce
companies trusting the state need.
“We are not expecting
anything, here we work together, as a team.
Here we are joint and united for labor stability: we signed a pact a few
months ago where we all are working in the same direction and offer the balance
and stability required by any company deciding to invest in Coahuila,” said
Riquelme Solis.
Meanwhile, the mayor of
Ramos Arizpe said that the arrival of Matcor Matsu is a clear example of the
trust investors have in the Municipality and the State and that this way
continues to consolidate the great Automotive Cluster Southeast Region.
“The tireless work of economic promotion, together with the great work to keep our State in optimum levels of labor stability, it crystallizes again with the opening of this important company in our Municipality,” said Morales Padilla.
SUM OF 67 INVESTMENT
PROJECTS
Jaime Guerra Perez said
that regarding economic development and job generation, Coahuila currently has
67 investment projects settled, a figure that represents more than 22,800 new
jobs and 3,160 million dollars of investment.
“We are doing well in
Coahuila, we continue going forward in investments for all the state
regions. Coahuila is one of the few
entities that continue to grow even with all the adversities taking place in
the national and international environment,” said the secretary of Economy.
Additionally, he said that
there are 46 projects in process, which will bring the opportunity to more than
19,200 people of Coahuila of joining this workforce, with an additional
investment of 1.8 billion dollars.
“In this sense, the
additional investment amount to date is of 4,960 million dollars, with the
generation of more than 42,000 jobs, distributed in all regions of the entity,”
he noted.
Likewise, Guerra Perez highlighted
the presence of Canadians in the entity regarding investments. “Canada has excellent relations with
Coahuila, we have great investors such as Magna, Martin Rea, Linamar, among
others,” he said and he also anticipated big Canadian investments will continue
arriving in Coahuila.
